The next container train arrived from China to Afghanistan

The next container train arrived from China to Afghanistan on October 9 this year. The arrival ceremony of the next train of 22 containers with automobile spare parts through the multimodal transport corridor "China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan – Afghanistan" took place at the Hairaton station in Afghanistan. Earlier, 42 containers with similar cargo were delivered along the same route.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of “O‘zbekiston temir yo‘llari” JSC Raxmetov H.N., Kamalov A.S., Bobokulov D.N., Head of the Afghan Railway Administration Bakht ar-Rahman Sharafat, Governor of Balkh Province Mohammad Yusuf Wafa, President of Zhejiang Union of Railway Logistics Co., Ltd Song Zhing, etc.

At the meeting, the Uzbek side expressed condolences for the numerous losses to the families of victims and injured as a result of a strong earthquake in the Herat province of Afghanistan. “The Uzbek side stands in solidarity with Afghanistan and its people in these difficult times,” noted Hikmat Raxmetov.

It should be noted that in order to optimize the delivery time of goods, at the initiative of “O‘zbekiston temir yo‘llari” JSC in September 2022 was organized a 4-party meeting of the heads of the railway administrations of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan with the participation of an international logistics company of China.

Thanks to joint efforts to develop the Corridor, 22 containers were transported from China to Afghanistan in September-December 2022, and 73 containers were transported in January-September 2023. It should be emphasized that since August of this year, volumes have shown a significant increase. At the same time, the delivery time of containers from China to Afghanistan has been reduced to 20-25 days (on the territory of China – 13-18 days, Kyrgyzstan – 4-5 days, Uzbekistan – 3-4 days).

In general, there has been an increase in containerization trends in transportation in the region, which will have a positive impact on the increase in international trade in all regions of Eurasia.

At the ceremony, the parties noted that the development of the multimodal transport corridor "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan - Afghanistan" is of great importance in increasing mutual trade turnover, expanding the production capacity of enterprises, strengthening foreign economic relations between the participating countries and ultimately contributes to the implementation of projects for the construction of railway lines " China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan” and “Uzbekistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan”.

As previously reported, the implementation of the China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway line project is always in the spotlight and its speedy implementation is a priority for all parties involved, negotiations on the railway construction project roads are in an active phase and are being carried out on a regular basis.

In July of this year for the project “Uzbekistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan” in the city of Islamabad, the parties determined the final route and adopted a Roadmap for joint actions. At the same time, in September, work was completed on the part of the international consultant E&Y (Big for) to develop presentation material to attract financing.
